Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a profound yet gentle form of hand's-on therapy which supports and enhances the body's natural capacity for self-repair and healing. Working with the whole body-mind system, CST can help restore and maintain physical, emotional and psychological health.
CST first developed as a branch of Osteopathy around 100 years ago, and has been evolving over the last 30 years as a powerful and effective modality in its own right. With its unique approach of non-invasive, deep connective touch, physical manipulation is no longer required. As such it has earned a reputation as a safe and effective treatment for pregnant women, babies and children, but is equally beneficial to people of all ages and states of health.
The client lies fully clothed on the treatment couch while the Craniosacral Therapist attunes to the subtle rhythmic movement of fluids and tissues within the body to clarify where healthy flow and function is restricted. The clients' systems' innate healing ability is then utilised to resolve issues ease-fully, at the pace and depth appropriate to the individual. Clients commonly report a general experience of greater relaxation, vitality and well-being, and find CST to be a wonderful support in their lives, particularly during major life events such as after accidents and surgery, during emotional crises / upheaval, and as a support during pregnancy and after childbirth.
More specifically, CST can assist with a wide range of conditions such as:
- Shock, anxiety and stress related issues
- Structural misalignment, physical injuries, and recurring pain (e.g. headaches)
- Nervous system conditions, hyperactivity and insomnia
- Hormonal Imbalances
- Low energy
With regard to babies and toddlers, CST can be used to treat:
- Colic and Digestive Issues
- Difficulty settling and disturbed sleep
- Irritability and restlessness
- Difficulties with feeding
- Bonding and relational issues
As CST works on a number of levels, many people also find it facilitates
a deepening of their relationship with themselves and the world
around them. In this way CST can empower and assist your journey
of self-discovery, as well as helping you to move on from difficult
life experiences (past or present). Consequently people who come
for CST regularly over an extended period of time often report that
CST has significantly and remarkably improved their quality of life.
